Those who travel to Wessons from the Heathfield area be aware that the 40mph section of the B2203 has been changed to 30mph as it goes through Maynards Green.

There are now what I consider to be deliberate traps to catch the unwary. Going South out of Heathfield on the B2203 the speed limit changes up to 40mph for about a quarter of a mile until you enter the new 30mph zone just past the 'Runt-in-Tun' Pub --- right on a bend that will make a good site for the mobile camera van. Likewise, once through Maynards Green the speed restriction once again goes up to 40mph, by St Marys School for the quarter mile until you reach Horam. This is probably done to tempt people who been so used to the one speed limit for so many years.

By the way I approve of the 30mph change through Maynards Green and advise that there are further changes due to take place soon in other villages, for example Broad Oak will soon change plus a new pedestrian crossing and also Punnetts Town changes. Again these changes to 30mph are long overdue.

In addition to the mobile camera van there will be an active 'Community Speedwatch Group' :169B9ADF431545348BC monitoring the traffic in these areas so once again beware.

Cheeky ole bugger, should show more respect for your elders

Mo, I have just spent the weekend in Whiteley near Fareham and during the journey down to the hotel and back on the A27/M27 we saw 3 Police cars who had stopped 2 cars & a Lorry for some misdemeanour, 2 Police bikes, engines running on access roads and 2 mobile cameras on bridges over the road. Either you lot down there in the Forest area are a load of law breakers (as well as cheeky buggers) or the police have got nowt else to do. :60277EB7B04744289C0

Also, be careful of the new traffic islands they have placed on the same bit of road. Going Southwards the gap between the island and the kerb is very narrow - a large lorry/bus will only just fit. They aren't illuminated either - just reflective bollards (this might only be a temporary situation to see if they have much of a 'life span')

Slowing down is a nice change Bob, most people simply throttle up and head in another direction when they see you ... innit :D

On passing through Heathfield, coming back from Horam, I noted a Police Officer with his little camera thinggy stood on the right. They're usually to be spotted in the pull in to the old estate, but as this is now in use as an entrance to a new property he was further down the hill. So, anyone heading south to Wessons etc should hold off the throttle a bit longer than usual to make sure
