To celebrate the 90th year of the RBL there are various events taking place across the country, the aim of which is to raise £90M in aid of the RBL Poppy appeal. You all know that the money raised goes towards the welfare of our guys n gals who give their all to our country.

Members of the Sussex Fire Service in Heathfield are organising such an event and I have been asked if we could put on a display of our bikes which always attracts people. I have spoken with BNM and it could be arranged that we could include an evening BBQ or similar at his place afterwards, maybe camp over and make a social weekend of it for us as well

Although still in the planning stage the event will take place at about 11:00 to 16:00 on Saturday June 11th.

If any of you are available on that day and would be prepared to give up some of your time on that Saturday please let me know. I will then let the Fire Service guys know, so that they can finalise their plans.

An important proviso is that BNM will not do the cooking on the BBQ

I should point out that Region 12 are holding their 'River Dart' rally in Devon over this weekend & several Coasters will probably be attending.

You should get in touch with the RBLRB. I am sure they will have some people who will come along and even bring some display stuff as well.

I would think that all RBL members will have already booked that weekend Ray as the Poppy Party will be taking place across the Nation. I think that a local club such as ours showing local support will say a lot for bikers for a change.

Thanks to those who I chatted to last night re the bike display.

The list of Probables/Possibles so far is:

Phil
Graham/Wormy
Tim
Sarah
Ken
Karl/Val
Simon - Cositrike
Len
Pete - Scotster
Pete - MT
Dave - Buell
Steve
Debs
Geoff
Simon - Gunner
SimonA
Terry/Sylv
Den

I hope the weather is good for us - afterwards if you want to have a social get together & BBQ at BNMs then we will need to organise it -- I suggest bring your own stuff to BBQ along with whatever to accompany it and bring your own booze. (could be bought whilst the event is taking place as the Co-op is only just over the road - and it will give you something else to do)

I will confirm it with Mike along with confirmation that camping could be available should you wish (or need it)

Let me know.

The silage will be off by then Bob ,so overnight camping will be available if required. The heifers will stilll be in the barn awaiting their last vaccination so we'll have to find another piece of concrete for the BBQ , but that shouldn't be a problem .

I have had no definite "yes" for a BBQ Wormy, however I will be popping up to Mikes during this week to get some charcoal up there and sort out the equipment. My suggestion was for those interested to get their own 'plate of grub', booze and stuff to BBQ once they get to Heathfield as the Co-op is just over the road and there is a Butchers a similar distance away. I was trying to arrange Sue to get the car down to the car park where the stuff could be stored and she will then take it over to Mikes afterwards. Likewise if anyone decides to stop over and camp they can dump their Tent etc in the car so that the bike is free from 'things tied on'.

We must discuss this at the Berwick meeting tomorrow (as well as checking that Scud can now do his trousers up ).

Generally the event timescale is:

We meet in Heathfield and park our bikes (trike) along the pavement in front of the (now empty) Dream Machines showroom front between the bollards at 10:00 - 10:30 . (If we overflow the space then we might create another bike show in the car park behind the Fire Station amongst the other exhibitors)

A parade will be starting somewhere else in the Town at 10:30 - the main road through the centre of Town will be closed for a short time whilst the parade arrives at the Fire Station around 11:20 ish. It will then dissipate into the car park for the official opening and the road will re-open. (we won't be in the parade as we have done enough slow stop-starts recently)

There will be various stands to keep folks occupied and the Fire & Rescue Service will be cutting up a car in a 'rescue demo' at sometime.

For those who have orgasmic desires over men with bells on their ankles - don't worry cos there will be Morris Men there.

Nearer to our hearts (sorry - stomachs) there will be refreshments at the Fire Station and there are plenty of eateries in Heathfield (I don't of any other Village/small Town with so many Ethnic Restaurants/Take Aways/Cafes {one right opposite where we will be parked} or places to get grub as Heathfield)

The event is planned to finish at 16:00 but if anyone needs to leave at any time it will be no problem.

If anyone has the small HDRCGB/Coasters banners then bring them along as we want folks to know who we are supporting the RBL event - Coasters 'T' shirts as well please.

If you can't make the display then please turn up at Mikes (where Phil is) for the evening 'gossip and social' + BBQ (bring ya own grub/booze).

Once you have been to Specsavers Mike and re-read the post above as well as the note I gave you last night you will see that the event doesn't finish till 16:00 so I will have to light the afterburner on the ole RK to get to the 'Facility' in time to light the Barbie at 4ish:tongue:

Well done you Coasters, a great turn out and we did our bit for the RBL. Thanks to you all who attended from all parts of Sussex. Our Far Eastern member from Camber - Len, to our deepest Western member PeteJ & the massive from all points South.
It was also good to have Tony the landlord of the Berwick join us and of course Simon on his Trike. A change from shiny chrome was to see big Petes MT in its green livery out and about & we can't leave out Marks new Heritage (keep this one upright Mark )

I thoroughly enjoyed the soiree at the facility, particularly the tongue in cheek banter ????? - which was a bit like a game of tennis (my neck ached following it back & forth) - (I don't think it got past 'deuce')
Thanks Mike & kim for the usual hospitality, and Wormy for providing so much grub - y'know, we ought to do this kind of evening more often.

And before I forget, I was asked by the Chairman of the H&W Parish Council to give you his thanks for giving up your day to support the event.

Glad to hear you had good time and sorry I wasn't able to join in. I heard the bikes etc go in and out of the farm but I had my phone taped to my ear so I could speak to my computer man, Ron, and try to deal with a rather nasty infection that had sneeked in through a back door and attatched itself to various point. It's been a bugga to get rid of but it seems to have gone and I've got access to t'internet once more. :)
