I had a little bimble into Kent yesterday, riding shotgun to a Royal Enfield (Indian version). We visited an eatery just along by the river at Yalding. It was a most enjoyable trip and I think it would make a good trip out one day. Brekkie in the cafe and just down the road is a pub, Ye Olde Anchor, which could be used for lunch.

The guy on the RE wanted to call in to the place where he bought it and the establishment not only deals with these and other bikes, a couple of Urals were worth having a butchers at, but they also do Military Surplus and sell Davida helmets as well. I shall be visiting again sometime, they are not open on a Sunday or Monday so probably would be better for a Saturday trip (unless anyone has a free weekday available).

Glad you're back safe 'n' sound Bob, and going across the border as a pair was a damn good idea but unless you let one of us know your intended route beforehand, how do you expect us to co-ordinate a search and rescue party should anything untoward happen between you and the restless natives

I is 'ard enough to keep off a few Cantii - anyway the ole RK is fast enough to get away from them, at least to be out of sight --- then they would get lost innit

Yalding ? that aint real Kent...you need to venture further East, to at least Durovernum Cantiacorum (my home town) or if your really brave, the Isle of Thanes...thats the real Kent....:D

Cheeky bugger! I may have been 'chugging' but the ole RK was purring along.

Thats the cafe Tony, it's well hidden innit. Apparently well used by various bikers at the weekend. We could meet up there one morning if you are lost for something to do (like me)

That's a boring old ride Chris but Canterbury is ok (cheap petrol as well), however the Isle of Thanes is on a different planet and I don't have a map:wink:

you came into kent!!! i hope you got a note from the coasters secretary :D

interesting bikes the 'new' royal enfields even if they are made in india as they have a number of conversion kits - i like the street racer one.

if anyone has and enfield they may be interested in Hitchcocks Motorcycles - Parts Books Online (http://www.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/parts-books-online) on line parts manuals.

that brings back some memorys I used to swim of the bridge when I was a kid. And i'm not sure if they still do the sunday roast. I'm in t/wells and if you need escorting in the great north/west then I would be more than happy to help if you let me know when you're coming this way. :)
