How do you refill a hydraulic lift jack?

Bought a bike lift on Ebay some time ago with no maintenance instructions.

Model at: www.dragstardoctor.com

Having inadvertently let out most of the hydraulic oil from the 4 tonne bottle jack, I decided to completely strip & check/replace the seals + clean out any oil to allow a refill with no chance of oil crystallisation due to contamination.

I replaced the plastic filler plug assembly that appeared to have been inserted with a special tool ( that I really had no chance of getting back in properly) by neatly welding on a nut that allows a screw & fibre washer to be used. Having then resprayed the outside of the reservoir to smarten it back up.

The plug is approx half way up.
I intend to refil using Castrol Hyspin Hydraulic oil that we use at work.

How much oil oil do I actually put in?
Is the plug half way up a level pllug?

I have already read the article that somebody has posted as one of the replies on the collapsing jack/lift regarding the method used for bleeding the jack - from which, I may also add my thanks.
