Hearing Protection

Had a search on this subject, but couldn't find anything relevant.

Ear Plugs - I need them what do you use or recommended?

Have found a couple of sites http://www.ultimateear.com/products_motorbike.html
http://www.bikehps.com/ProductFiles/motosafe.html

Ultimate Ear will visit rallies etc. If they were good and there was interest perhaps we could invite them to Oswestry.

For North of the border there is http://www.houseofhearing.co.uk/find.htm

Re: Hearing Protection

Got mine done at the local Hospital Audiology Dept, just rang them up ,got an appointment, and Bobs your uncle £30 would be around £50 at a show.

The ones from the Hospital were polished so they don't get dirty, the ones i got from a show were unpolished and got dirty so easily.

Good luck

Re: Hearing Protection

I may be missing the point here but, are you after ear protection from the noise of your pipes or, from machinery noise where you work?
If they`re from your pipes, then shame on you, there is no better sound on earth except for a Rolls-Royce Merlin
I`ve got a box full of soft yellow lug-plugs at work if anyone wants a pack. They are joined together by a plastic wire so you only lose both of them, not just the one. When you run out of chewing gum, just take one out of your lug and chew on it, its the same consistency. PM me if anyone wants a set.

Re: Hearing Protection

Bruno
Iv'e got the start of tiinutus ,wind noise is now my main concern,i can still hear that great sound the bike makes, admittidly not as much as without the plugs but thats something i'm prepared to sacrifice for the good of my hearing.Been wearing them now for about 4 years and so far so good.

Whatdidyousay ehh!!

Re: Hearing Protection

TBH I love the sound of my bike when Im wearing earplugs. Maybe its just the sporty but I can still hear the exhaust perfectly, but without the all the other clanking and clattering that goes with it.
I must admit to not wearing earplugs with a full face helmet ,except when on the CBR ,travelling at speed. With the 1/2 helmet anything over 40 mph is pretty uncomfortable for me(windnoise wise). You have to be doing some damage to your hearing ??

Re: Hearing Protection

Somewhere out there in the club is someone who has the technical knowledge and knows the ramifications of riding without earplugs.

I never wear earplugs or a full-face helmet, and I do ride on the freeway at 70+ mph.

Should I be rethinking this?
