Kickstand

Just lowered my sportster with 11 1/2" shocks and a Corbin seat.
With the stock kickstand it sits a bit more upright.(Still leans to left, but not much)
I was going to remove the kickstand and get to work on it with a blowtorch and bend it a bit . Has anyone else done this ?
Or should I just go and buy a custom model kickstand, which should be shorter ? Or even get a hacksaw to it and bolt on a foot

Re: Kickstand

definately get a lower kick stand. wife had her sporty lowered and for one reason another it fell onto my car, not least the long kick stand. buggered the door completely, no damage to bike though

personally i would buy one, if you cut and weld unless you are bloody excellent and are able to blend it or make a feature of it you will always notice it.... and think every one else would notice it too, funny how you always notice your bikes minor imperfections yet no one else does..

Re: Kickstand

Big thing with welding is you must know what your stand is made of. If you get it wrong it could snap at the weld. The stand may be made of an alloy of steels.
Safer to buys one, there is a jumble at Stadium on the 26th feb

Re: Kickstand

Win, your local harley dealer can get you a sidestand to fit the hugger which was a very low seat height. I lowered my rear shocks by 1.5-2" and lowered the front forks about 3/4" and I noticed that the bike was very upright and in France last year because of the road camber I was worried quite a few times, so that's what I did, fitted a hugger stand and it leans over well now.
