The price on Crime Scene Choppers's website is $475, that's £272.79.

Re: Call for V-Twin Boycott on ChopperWeb

Hi, chilly, how you doing??

I don't think its exactly a secret that a lot of bits for HDs are made in the Far East. Then they are vastly over-priced when sold im the US, let alone here. Its not really surprising as workers wages in China are about £100 a month. That is one problem but it means that all manufacturing is going that way - to the Far East.

The big problem (apart from rampant capitalism!!) is intellectual property. Designers in the West are being ripped off big time. Western businesses like V-Twin are too happy to get copies made in the Far East of our designs. It is too expensive for most designers to take legal action. So, we are put out of business by Western rip-off merchants looking to make a fast buck.

How do I know this? I am afraid it happened to me.

It is up to us to make surethat we are not buying these pirated articles. The big problems with that are, firstly, how do we know? and secondly, can we resist the bargain!!

Having now been out there a couple of times, I cannot see how most manufacturing will not transfer to China. It just makes economic sense. What that leaves us doing, I am not sure.

Just try not to buy what you think is western designed and manufactured and sold at a western price, when it is a rip-off!

Be careful out there.
