Tanks

Anybody know how much a larger version of the Sportster tank costs as a matter of interest, as I dropped my tank in the garage when I left it on the shelf overnight , and it got a nice dent in it, so I have to get it out and of course respray, so I wonder what the cost of a larger tank would be, Anyone done that or any idea of the cost? Cheers L_ Dave

Re: Tanks

Don't know if it will help, but there have been a few threads on larger tanks. Try a search for "larger tanks".

Re: Tanks

This is the latest view of my tank having a "steaming" time, hopefully I'll weld it when the college opens again next week and fill just a wee bit before a respray, it'll teach me to be more careful in future!

Re: Tanks

As I'm sure you all know about the dent in my tank, anyway, I ordered a new set of decals from H-D (anniversary). I had to give my engine no and Vin no to verify that my bike is a genuine 2003 model. I have received a call today from my local dealer to tell me that as my sporty is a screen printed tank, I will have to buy a new tank! Talk about a rip-off, there's no way I'm going to fork out for a new tank, when all it had was a small dent I fixed myself; so I phoned the guy up who's spraying it to go ahead. What I would like to know is: do any of you out there know of a good decal maker who can supply me with a set of transfers for the tank? if you do can you please give me a shout. Ooh I'm that annoyed I could squash a grape!! Cheers L. Dave

Re: Tanks

Dave
Try the sign makers who cut them out of vinyl by a computer process(think thats how its done) our local sign makers did mine for me and my ole boys Triumph.
They usually do them for vans and shops etc.
All done from a picture he copied, photo would most probably be better, min price a tenner, because i was into bikes he did the two tank stickers for a fiver,or was it because i said, f*ck me a tenner !! thats bloody expensive

Worth a try mate.

Chill ;)

Re: Tanks

Thanks fellas, there's a young fella just up the road who has the gear for doing that sort of thing, he mainly does number plates etc, but when I was out there before he had all this computer gear, I never thought of him, but I'll give him a try, I'm not to bothered about the anniversary transfers, the bike's for riding not for gazing at! Any good looking transfer will do. Cheers Dave
