RAM-FLO Air Cleaners

Has anyone used / or experience of RAM-Flo air cleaners

http://www.trak-tek.com/products/air...rCleaners.html

Thought they might make a good alternate to standard air cleaner / cover, hypercharger etc options, and think the basic 'industrial look' will suit the 883R pretty well.

883R has been stage 1'd but but after something to improve airflow / aesthetics a bit.

Re: RAM-FLO Air Cleaners

This is a nice piece of kit and I would definitely consider having one on my bike. It looks really 'retro.' There will not be too many fitted to other bikes, so if it's exclusivity you are after, go for it.

Re: RAM-FLO Air Cleaners

Having looked through xlforum.net and seen alot of very positive reviews from guys that have fitted these in the States and spoken with Chris at Trak-Tec (really helpful guy), I’ve parted with my hard earned cash and ordered one.

OK and admittedly the last bit about it on their website in there sales bumph made me laugh alot!

"they don't take a back seat to anything on the market today in terms of flow, and filter better than any other high-performance air cleaner out there. What's more, they free up quite a bit of room in the knee area compared to the OEM ham can. And, being mercifully devoid of moving flapper-doors, pointy dog-skewering snouts, golden eagles and other ridiculous festoonery, they look cool doing it."

Price really good too for the complete kit including all mounting hardware £87 all in including shipping ............... result

Thumbs up Re: RAM-FLO Air Cleaners

Mark - what size did you choose 400 or 600? I'd be interested to see what customs duty you get stung for when it arrives. I'm looking to replace the Kuyakin Hypercharger currently fitted which gives my right knee a chronic bruising (and I'm not convinced by the mickymouse flap valves of the kuryakin - more 'show' than 'go'!)

Re: RAM-FLO Air Cleaners

I went for the 400 in the end, dont think to be honest Im making big enough horses to warrant the need the 600.

My experience of customs duty is sometimes you pay sometimes you dont & there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it, but if I do I'll let you know how much it is.

Thanks Mark, I'll watch out for that.
A picture of it, when you've got it installed, would be great!

Lightbulb Re: RAM-FLO Air Cleaners

More info: Chris at Trak-Tek confirms that 400 Ram-Flo is OK for 1200 lump - very helpful chap! May need 600 unit for 1450 up.
Spicey - I agree Hypercharger is great for looks , but I am thinking of my sore knee - I have no intention of 'suffering for my art ' any longer than necessary!

Re: RAM-FLO Air Cleaners

Finally got this fitted ...... was delayed a month been shipped, cause they had run out of the breather kits, but to apologise, they refunded my cash and even the shipping fee as goodwill which was all round a bit of a result ;)

Still got charged £18 import duty despite cross words with the post office that as I hadn’t actually paid for it how could I be charged ............ but decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth and paid up

Anyway dead simple to install, and everything fitted spot on first time. Took the bike out for a quick spin last night and it does seem to pull better , but will take it out over the weekend for a longer run and mixture seems to be OK without adjustment but will re-check once its been run for a while.

Piccie attached now the bike has new air cleaner and V&H shorties on.
