Dyna FXD wheels

My 1998 FXD is fitted with standard spoked wheels . I do not like tyres with inner tubes . I am interested in fitting a set of s/h cast wheels .What will fit? I like the look of the Fatboy wheels . Any suggestions / things to look out for .
Also - I was given a brand new Q.D. sissy bar / rear rack for the Dyna but never fitted it - How much is it worth ( comes in five bits with bolts)?

Re: Dyna FXD wheels

Hi, about the QD stuff, have a look in the P&A catalogue for the part Nos. Then go to the Guernsey HD site www.guernseyharledavidson.com and put the part numbers in the finder on the right, this should give you a price that you can work from.

As far as wheels are concerned, the rear is a 16" on a dyna so you should be able to get a solid cast in there, not so sure about the front though unless you have a wideglide. If you do not, you could get a wideglide kit and put 16 incher in there. You would need to change mudguard and perhaps do some work on the brake mount.
This is from the top of my head.

Hope this helps.

Re: Dyna FXD wheels

Thanks. Mine is a bog standard Dyna. I will look into the idea of a cast rear wheel The front one would seem to be the problem as later ( post 99) Dynas apparently have different bearings

Re: Dyna FXD wheels

I spoke with a contact in the States about getting some Mags/Alloys for my 2001 FXD.
These are the sizes he suggested which would enable you to keep your current fender profiles:
You can run any of these sizes without any changes to
the fenders or brakes. They are all a direct fit upgrade
for the 01 FXD. All wheels are chrome complete with the
hubs and bearings as needed for your bike.

Stiletto 21" and 18"
Stiletto 19" and 18"
Stiletto 21" and 16"
Stiletto 19" and 16"

The 21" wheel uses a 80/90-21 or 90/90-21 tyre
The 19" wheel uses a 100/90-19 tyre
The 18" rear uses the 140/70-18 tyre
The 16" rear uses the 150/80-16 tyre

Not sure if this is any help

Re: Dyna FXD wheels

Hi a night train solid fits ok on the rear, went straight in on my 2001 dyna. Fitted an 18 venom. clears the belt by 5mm phew Looking for an ally spoked for the front. Don't want a solid gets a bit hairy in the wind ooer missus. Try ebay theres a fair few on there I run ultraseal in the back and the front but they don't guarantee using it with tubes. gotta get a front wheel n loose the tube. good luck to ye
