windows page leaps up and down

Hey all is there a quick fix for this prob on the PC?

Just installed new XP software (thanks again Baza) but 9 times out of ten on the screen, the moment you touch the mouse the page just leaps up and down like a kangaroo on steroids and you can't read a thing. Madly frustrating.

Tried messing with settings but no luck so far.

I'm sure you'll get a more expert answer but could it be your screen resolution setting? You are dealing with windows now, Dave.

Re: windows page leaps up and down

er....................no. Can you give me a download link???

Yes Gray, it is a resolution problem. What resolution works best? I did accidentally change the reso and it seemd to be OK before that but could not recall what it was originally...I think i need a primer/help guide as to how to fiddle with this

thanks

Dave,

Probably refresh rate on the monitor. You should not need to download any drivers.

Right Click on the empty desktop an select properties
Then settings -> advanced -> monitor

try different refresh rates from the drop-down

Re: windows page leaps up and down

You need to know what kind of Graphics card you have? If its a Radeon you can go to www.ati.com and if its a Geforce you can go to www.nvidea.com

As for resolution , it depends, I think on what monitor it is? Is a LCD?

17" LCD will probably be 1280 X 1024 .

19" will be higher ( i think)

CRT ?choose which one you want.

Re: windows page leaps up and down

If your not sure about the res set it to 640*480, it will look awful but it should run stable in that format.
It if does you can download the drivers you need. There is an app that will tell you what drivers you need for your PC but im dammed if i can remember what it is called.

Failing that, on startup tap the F8 key till it asks how you want to start XP, choose safe mode, this will load XP in real basic format, it will look worse that the other way as no drivers are loaded, it will at least tell you if it is a driver prob.
