| What's going on??? I have just bought the BT wire into the office via wall connection to telegraph pole and put the orange and white wires only to 'A' and 'B' in the box. Out of the box is a DSL filter which the cable goes into DIRECT to the modem. Telephone on other outlet of DSL modem. From my BT Voyager 105 modem. RX Data Rate 1152 kbps TX Data Rate 288 kbps And I STILL get a message saying: Local Area Connection 2 Speed: 1.1Mbps Status: Limited or no connectivity. ![]() And yes it does not repair? Over the years I have had a problem with service going off and they always told me the modem should be in the master box. Well it is now! And it seems to make no difference. I have lost my connection twice this afternoon. Sorry lots of questions....Any ideas? Last edited by BaZa ®; 06-08-2006 at 06:18 PM. |

| Re: What's going on??? BaZa, looking at your photo's, i reckon the filter should be going into the master socket then hang your modem from the dsl output from the filter.

| Re: What's going on??? I also have the same problem as you Bazza, and it has existed since I bought my computer last year, and even a long chat to Dell shortly after didn't solve the problem . I must be luckier than you as I don't have any connection problems to the internet and I just ignore the icon I see when it pops up, but if anyone knows how to fix it permanently I would be pleased to know how . |

BT are doing a check on our line into the house in the next 24 hours. So I have to leave the modem on until tomorrow night. |

| Re: What's going on??? Too many filters Incoming line - filter - 2 outputs (1)DSL (2) telephone Connect DSL modem into (1) from there you can attach an ethernet cable, link this to an ethernet hub (£ 10 from DABS) you can then run up to 10 devices all at once. For BT to do the test, only have one phone and one DSL attached. How far are you from the exchange? What is the max speed of the exchange, they all vary, so if the exchange only has a speed of 4meg, you are going to be even slower. If you are not too far from exchange and it is enabled to 8 meg and you are still slow. Enquire to the engineer if there is any aluminium cable in your route to the exchange. This makes a big difference. When BT was the PO, the government tried to save money by installing aluminium cable. OK then but plays havoc with high speed data. Let me know how you get on. In Shrewsbury next week but can reply next weekend
