Hello everyone

Im 47, married, two grown-up girls and have been a biker since I was 18. Up until a few weeks ago I had a Yamaha TDM 900, now I also have an FLHTCUI - my first ever Harley.

I've been a lurker here for a few weeks and already I'm in your (collective) debt. Y'see the Harley is a 1999 model with the twin cam 88 engine - and this site warned me of the notorious bearing problem. With this info I managed to knock the guy down from £10.5k to £9k. Still too much you`re probably thinking, but to be fair it only has 7000 miles on the clock.

So - my first post is to say THANKS!!

I have 101 questions about the bike, but they'll have to wait for now.

oh - and a special thanks to BaZa for all his help with my reg problems

Re: Hello everyone

Hey Yawner;

Hope you're really here this time!

And if you think STC has a quick draw, you ain't seen nothin' yet!

Enjoy the site. Think about joining the club. I'm sure you'll find all your questions being responded to in the technical section.

Great idea - Just found the link - best not print off the forms now or I'll wake Mrs Y. I'll do that tomorrow.

And don`t worry about me - I've a thick skin (some would say "fat"). In fairness I understand how easy it is to come across "the wrong way" on web forums - particularly when people aren`t familiar with the poster and their idiosyncracies. I'll tread more carefully until people realise that I`m a harmless sap.

Re: Hello everyone

Hi and welocme, glad you made the effort to get in. The clubs a bit like that in general, worth the effort. I hope you find that also.

Re: Hello everyone

Hi again yawner, have a play around in the search engine as most of the questions you have could well have been already asked.
If you don't find what you want ask in Evo's and Twin-cams. Virtual Rally is also very good for the sensible questions. Take a deep breath before entering The Beer Tent and keep your thick skin on...LOl

No it's not that bad really.

Enjoy the site/club and meet some good folks where ever you are around the country.

Re: Hello everyone

Hi Yawner, I've just had a chuckle reading your post in 'Login Difficulties', don't worry about Simon (STChapman) 'cos there are loads of people out there who worry enough about him as it is ;) (a quick search will find the relevant post).

But when it comes to good advice you'll find that Si and an honourable few will help you with all your tech enquiries, the rest of us make up the numbers and will help out where we can

Re: Hello everyone

Yawner, don't worry about the rest of them on this site, they all get let out under license, (especially at weekends!;) ) there are one or two of us who of course are upright, sensible, sober citizens, it's hard but I'm still trying to find the other one!! Don't worry if you haven't got a thick skin, you soon grow one!!
