Re: hello from Hellon2

Hello mate put a few key words into the search engine at the top of the page on the black tool bar. Most things have been asked. Enjoy the site and hopefully you will get to meet some people from here and the club membership.
If you get stuck and want to know something post in Evo's and Twin cams or Virtual rally. You will have a wealth of knowledge thrown at you.

Question Re: hello from Hellon2

Thanks for the welcome. Kneetrembler, Err, does my Derbyshire accent come through on the web postings too ;)

Just been looking into a manual for the bike, didnt get a user manual from Warrs, and when I asked at Silverstone (Towcester) they were taling £20+ and not in stock etc.
I have now read (using search engine thanks BaZa) that the User Manual is maybe not "ever so useful"?! I am not very techy and unlikely to do much myself but am going to Spain in a few weeks with bird and bags on the back, so i would like to know were the fuses are and what they do etc (for example). Is the workshop manual a better bet?
Is this the right one to get ('99 FLSTC Heritage 1340 Evo stage1 + Mikuni)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0...teway&v=glance

Thanks Rob

Re: hello from Hellon2

Hi Mate
just for starters i believe u will find it is illegal to sell secondhand machinery without the official operators manual. Health and safety and all that. put in a written complaint to warrs and copy it to the managing director of Halrey davidson uk as well . im mean your bike wasnt 2.50 was it so a £20 manual aint going to break the bank is it. You will find more helpful dealers (or stealers) i assure u but you need to move out of the commuter belt.

Are you living in Derbyshire or do you just have Derbyshire accent? Either way us lads and lasses in Matlock will be willing to make you welcome and offer help / advise if required

Welcome to the site, Rob.

There are never stupid questions.
There are plenty of stupid answers - but never on this site.

Re: hello from Hellon2

Hi Steve
Nah, I dont live in Derbyshire anymore, was born in South Wingfield tho, and my folks now live in Chesterfield. I live near Dunstable, Beds and work in London.
I know Matlock Bath very well, played there as a kid! and was over there two weekends ago on the bike - bought some stuff from, oh cant remember shop name now, not Peach's, near it, on the junction of the narrow road up the hill near Peachs? Anyway they seem to have good prices for clothes etc.
Next time I visit my folks I could try look you up - do you meet somewhere / time? to be honest i only get up there weekends.

Usabear, thanks for Hi. know what you mean re stoopid Q&As, but there is such a lot to learn about HDs, perhaps I should join the local HOG? I havent todate, mixed views on clubs, especially ones promoted by such a powerful brand - cant help thinking its another way to relieve me of my hard-earned.
Or am i too cynical in my old age?
best regards
Rob

Re: hello from Hellon2

Hey Rob;

You've said the magic word around here - HOG - sure to raise a lot of responses - pro and con. While I'm a member of HOG, I live across the pond, and it may be something different here, and I don't have membership for any technical advice. You'll have to make up your own mind on joining HOG over there. Despite the strong feelings of some on the site about the negative aspects of HOG, there are numerous contributors who are members.

As for technical advice, I suspect you can get all you want and more from this site. If there's one club you should join, it's this one!

I used to work for Peach's son. Lived in Matlock Bath for years. Small world.
