Pan gearbox (tranny)

Ok, i got to BNM farm party on the shovel. My next target is Oswestry on the pan. I have a bad oil leak that is seeping between the main drive shaft and the main drive gear (it's a problem because i run an enclosed 'belt' primary). I would like to sort this out myself, another string to my bow, so to speak.

So if i remove the tranny, strip it, buy a new main drive shaft, fit a new bush, ream it, etc. is there anything else i should think about whilst the gearbox is stripped?

Also is there any mods, post 1960, that will help with the oil leak or gear ratios?

come on you guys, i know you know.
