Red cross

I just formatted my hard drive, and installed a legal copy of Windows for once. Everything is fine...except where there used to be pics of bikes in the headers of the technical section....there is now a white square with a red cross in it.
Can anyone tell me what's happened please, and how to fix it.

Brian.

Re: Red cross

Sorry but no help here - I know very little about PC's as I use a Mac! You could try a PM to Roger (Webmaster) though as I'm sure I saw something somewhere about him having trouble with the loading of pictures etc. when he re indexed the site. Have you tried refreshing the page; quitting and restarting IE (I am assuming that this is the browser you are using); making sure that you have the latest version of the browser; re-booting. That's all the advice I can give. I'm sure that it 'll work out ok in the end thouhg. These things usually have a very simple, easily sorted fault that you just overlook and when you sort it out you think to yourself - b***** why didn't I do that earlier?
Good luck with it

No idea Mate, but for once don't blame windows. On my Mac running Safari my little pictures of bikes on the tech headers has also gone. Otherwise all seems OK

Yep he's right! I didn't think to check, but now that I have I see that I don't have the piccies on my Mac either. It must be on the server side of things as its cross platform (anybody running Linux?). I am sure that Roger will pick it up at some point but who needs the pics anyway? As long as the rest of it works it's ok by me

Re: Red cross

Hi Brian,

The photos are often linked from photo sites such as webshots or photobucket. Webshots don't often show up (ie show red crosses) but if you right click and copy the properties inot the address bar and hit go, you should see them. Sites like photbucket are fine.

This maybe it, it sounds like it, atleast if you try the above and it works you know its not your system.

Cheers,

Jason.

Re: Red cross

At work, also get red cross. If I enter the location into IE eg http://www.harley-davidson-hangout.c.../sportster.gif

get page not found. I suspect our firewall or server system stops them, no probs at home

Thanks Brian.
So I think that is the only problem. And as I say Roger is tweaking the site all the time.;)
