| Re: SU carbs If you get offered a used one check it very carefully. When new they are very good with excellent fuel economy but after extended use the dashpot and piston get worn, scored and sloppy. As a result they tend to stick open especially when its wet and cold. Not a happy scenario.

| Re: SU carbs Mmmmm...been thinking about goin down the SU road meself, being as my linkerts knackered. see hear. www.burlen.co.uk. should be cheaper to buy from these guys rather than from the USA. Trouble is they only seem to list carb specs for old british leyland cars, nothing at all for HD. Aint really got a clue regards size /setup for a pan. |

| Re: SU carbs Paperplane, I bought my SU ll from them a few years ago. what Burlen did /do was manufacture the basic carbs and then send them to Rivera engineering in the states who then adapted them for Harley's and then sent them back to Burlen for sale here, but they wern't cheap! nor cheaper. I e-mailed Burlen recently because I was thinking of another one but they refered me to the link at the top. So wheather or not they still sell them direct I dont know? It might be worth e-mailing Rivera with what you want and see if they can help or advise! |

| Re: SU carbs way back when, Pan/Shovel peeps DID pull them directly off Brit cars. Heritagebob has nailed the modern ''supply'' chain. a websearch will reveal exactly which SU's work...or the boys and girls on either Flathead Power, THBC Tech or Jalopy Journal boards will know. |
