uk made vrod parts at proper prices

myself and a engineer partner are going to making some vrod parts , it seems that most of the shelf stuff is tat or overpriced or both.
so in true brit style we,ll be making stuff thats affordable.
things in the pipeline are :
rear racks.
front racks.
mid mount sets.
possible a nice short 2 into 1 pipe like a cfr but shorter and meaner.

it would be nice to know if there is any interest at this point before we throw loads of money into it , if no ones interested then fair enough.
just lodge a comment so we can judge the demand a bit better .
there isnt a uk vrod forum , only the us one.so its proving confusing, the bikes are popular, their fast ,reliable, smooth and cheaper than a softail.
but there doesnt seem to be the interest in doing anything to them apart from riding to local dealership to get the dearest bit bolted on.
tell me i,m wrong...please.
thanks very much if you post in the thread, this is a serious attempt at getting stuff into the market so your help really is important.

Re: uk made vrod parts at proper prices

I guess everyone's thought about making changes but then remembers why they love the bike enough to buy it in the first place. But you guys are actually having a go and good on yers for that.
With Harleys design is everything, so I'd have to reserve judgement on whether I was interested until I see what you come up with though I'd be very interested as I've had the bike three years now and it would be nice to see her evolve.
Don't know who told you Moco parts are tat. Pricey maybe, but at least most things H-D produce looks like they should be part of the bike, as long as the owner doesn't over-do it with bolt-on goodies drawing the eye away from its simplistic and stunning lines and curves. A lot of aftermarket stuff looks like it hasn't been considered as part of the whole V-Rod package, so I'd advise working with the best designers you can afford who know their materials etc, but most importantly love and understand the original enough not to blemish it.

The best of luck with it, mate.

If you want some bits for your V-Rod or Buell then try these out;

Re: uk made vrod parts at proper prices

rodbod.
belive me this isnt the first harley i,ve owned so i know a bit about hd.
the dealerships sell some decent parts.
but anybody who,s daft enough to spend £250 on saddlebags supports or an even more laffable £800 on saddlebags wont be interested anyway.
the designer will be best we can afford....oh that,ll be me then.
the manufactuer will be the best we can afford..oh thats brian then.
perhaps if more varations of the standard bike are around more will sell, sell more and better bits appear.

kendo.
tried his site, no exhausts.
no racks,no mid mount sets.nice stuff tho and he.s not bad on price.

remember moco makes a lot of profit.
and thats why drag bars in a dealership are £55 odd and drag bars from a private custom shop are £25
you may all love your bikes...but moco loves your money more.

Re: uk made vrod parts at proper prices

Hey spyke;

Rod Bod is right. V-Rod owners are generally much more concerned about maintaining the original look and lines of their bike than other bike owners are. The V-Rod, after all, is the most design-conscious bike Harley's ever built. It's taken me nearly three years to find a set of pipes that I can live with for my V-Rod, and I have yet to change anything on the bike.

It's not going to be good enough that the parts work on the V-Rod, even if they're cheaper and of higher quality (keeping in mind that there are no real problems with V-Rod quality to start with). They will have to actually add something to the bike, and be in keeping with the design of the bike. I have nothing against Road Kings, but the last thing that I want is add-ons or replacement parts that make my V-Rod look more like a Road King (or any other current Harley).

Re: uk made vrod parts at proper prices

usa bear.
i understand what your talking about, and we are not trying to make the vrod into a rk or anything else, but develop the more aggressive european style that is more suited to the roads over here.
the racks ect we are working on are alternatives to the overpriced stuff which is only available from a catologue.
the saddlebag reference is just a point as theie in the moco dealers, i personally think they suck.
so the accessories will be neat , discreet, and in keeping with the idea of the bike.
and be affordable and give people a choice.

Re: uk made vrod parts at proper prices

Spyke,

Whatever anyone say's there are shedloads of people who will change their bikes looks, whatever model it is

And I have seen some great looking "V" Rods that have been totally changed in all respects, and in my opinion look much better for it

And there will alway's be people looking for parts that nobody else has, I mean who want's to own a bike that when it's alongside 20 others they all look the same.
Unless you are a member of a certain club who give you a membership when you buy your bike, and then you change it the next year for another new one
