| Any ideas? Sometimes when I receive a telephone call the modem goes off line it doesn't crash to the extent I have to reboot, but the online radio station stops and I can't change pages on this site until the modem gets it's signal back. (within a few seconds 30ish) When working properly it reads >>> DSL Modem: Tx:488kbps Rx:3168kbps The BT box is the only one in the house that is in the office direct from outside and in that is the dsl box with my telephone and modem line coming out from it? ![]() Last edited by BaZa ®; 03-01-2007 at 10:50 AM. |

| Re: Any ideas? No expert, but could it be that you need filters.I dont know what they are exactly, I think they are a type of plug that goes between the wall socket and the dsl line. When the internet is in use, is the sound quality on the phone reduced at all?

| Re: Any ideas? Hello mate, no the line is fine and as clear as a bell. The filters are the dsl ones aren't they? And that's the smaller box you can see in the photo it's just Velcroed on the bt box for tidiness. |

| Re: Any ideas? If it is a dial up modem you have to remember that each phone has a REN value, normally 1. But some phone with extra functions will be 1 1/2 REN. You modem is 1 REN. They say it is best not to go above 4 REN. If you have an ADSL connection i am not sure if that will be affected though. Just for an experiment disconnect all phones except one and the modem and see how things go

| Re: Any ideas? Have you recently had an upgrade on your download speeds? Sometimes the older modems cannot cope with the new faster speeds and require a firmware upgrade or replacing. If you have a fax or alarm system that use the phone line these can interfere with your connection. It's also important to have a filter on all of your phone lines. For instance, if you have Sky then this requires a BT line and will need a filter. Failing that, the only other thing I can think of is the filter. It may need changing if the line speed has been upgraded or it may not be working correctly. Best ring BT, see if you can get any sense out of the bollock juggling monkeys they have on the help desk. That's if they ever answer the damn thing ![]()
