Tyres in the North East

Hello,

I've managed to out 14,000 miles on my rear tyre and it's lookign a bit bald to say the least.

Newcastle HD quoted me £250 for supply and fitting of a new Dunlop tyre.

So,

I was wondering if anyone can recommend anywhere that can supply and fit a tyre to a HD Sportster. I don't have a lift at home so they'll have to remove the wheel for me etc.

Any help is appreciated.

JK

Best to dump the dunflops anyway as soon as you can. Look in our suppliers section get a tyre sent to your home and take your bike and tyre to a local independent and get it fitted while you wait. Just ring around and ask if they fit tyres to Harleys. Sorry don't know who your indys are.

Do a search in the toolbar above to find out what people prefer to run.

Re: Tyres in the North East

go to ANY decent m/cycle spares shop on the Westgate Road and ask for Metzeler 880s. You will be glad you did!

The dealership is the *LAST* place for tyres...anywhere in the world!!

I get mine from a mobile tyre specialist in Glasgow, where i work....but no decent shop will rip you off. And any Jap bike shop will fit for peanuts ... just grin and say yeah when they rag on about how crap Harleys are. It is worth the saving!!

I reckon £120 a wheel TOPS for everything.

I had a similar experiance with JH HD in Newcastle - Just HOW can they justify quoting £397 for a set of tyres costing about £200!!

Somebody should ring watchdog!!!

Re: Tyres in the North East

I usually buy mine on the internet & take the wheel to a tyre fitter. Auto tread charged me a tenner to change the tyre.

JH quoted £270 for a Dunlop D402. I got a new one on the net for £70.

Try this link. a Dunlop for a Sportster fer less than £64.

Take ye bike to Hunters on westgate rd. They should change it for ya.
