| Re: Inner Primary Bearing Failure
I think I've just had the same on a 2006 dyna wide glide, same symptoms. Got the bike trailored home and pulled of the outer primary to discover bronze shards all around the stator. Took the bike to Thames Valley Harley in Slough. Explained that I was very unhappy as the bike has less than 8k on it and only just out of warranty, was then told that they would look favouably on it. I was told that it needed a new stator but they were only £84 and the would probably go 50/50 on the cost. Nearly two weeks later I chase it up but was told they were still waiting for an answer from Harley. I then pointed out that they wern't going to contact Harley about it as they were going to sort it themselves, they suddenly remebered this and said that they were going to get straight on it.
Newt day I got a phone call saying it was ready, £284 +vat for the stator and with labour total £450. After explaing what they could do with there bill and the original discussion on pricing I got a phone call saying that it had been done at no charge.
So a result in the end but I suspect I would have not had a good result with standing my ground.
Small point but the bike was returned filthy, had oil and oily fingerprints all over the saddle and handlebars and had obviously been left out in the rain. Very shioddy for a main dealer.
