It happened so unbelievably quickly, though after few minutes later we dragged him inside stripping off his melted jacket, and found the explosion to have burnt through his sleeve melting the skin on his forearm as well as creating significant burns all down his chest.

Rather than prizing the moulten plastic jacket off the burns round his neck with a rusty old pair of pliers, we took him to hospital where he was promptly treated.......

It was an experience, and shows the clear dangers of intentionally igniting small explosive devices in your back garden.

The worst part was it really put me off me pie & pea's.....

He's a lucky man, it could have been a lot worse for the pair of us.
Glad all ok mate, but how many times have we been told to check there are no Hedgehogs near the fire and now you know why
