When I imported my front wheel the freight was $80.00. What you have to realise is that UK dealers (not only HD) do a straight conversion.
So if its $1400.00 it will be £1400.00 stg
Just do a comparison with UK HD dealers and USA... you will be shocked.
I have just purchased (Thanks to Rod for slagging off my numberplate) a laydown number plate kit with built in indicator relocator kit for $79.00
(£53.00) and I will get on Monday guaranteed delivery, if I had purchased from the UK it would had been not in stock, pay up front, given a delivery time of approx 2 weeks (comes from Germany) and then have to collect..
If there was realistic pricing in the UK I would buy here... But there aint... |
I don't post in the Tech Sections for personal reasons but this I just couldn't leave unanswered.
You are obviously getting prices from the wrong places.
There is realistic pricing in the UK.
What YOU have to realise is that you are using generalisations and tarring all businesses that deal in Harley Parts with the same brush.
As a point of interest, without meaning it to be an advert in any way, shape or form, we do not do a $ for £ straight conversion, we offer a club discount, we NEVER charge all the cost up front EVEN for special (read limited appeal) orders.
Not all aftermarket parts come from Germany, I think you are refering to CCE. Zodiac are based in the Netherlands. We import from CCE, Zodiac and direct from the States through Midwest etc.
Using your own figures (although you have not made an allowance for shipping, we normally add 15% for air freight) the kit would work out at approx £1350. This is using a generous exchange rate of $1.48 to the GBP (trader rate not tourist rate).
Mmmmmm? Looks like the damned Yankees are having you over as well then.
