when you remove the filter there will still be some oil in it even though you have drained the oil, stuff a thin rag under the filter to soak it up and remember not to overfill, the level wants to be halfway between min and max when cold or you will get problems, after filling you do have to drain a small amount of oil to prevent an air blockage, hope that helps
