the obvious thing is to learn the art of maintaining momentum whilst riding, all the time you are braking or accelerating you are wasting fuel, the harder you do it the worse the problem becomes. if you can maintain momentum you end up with a higher average speed that the on/off stop/start merchants (although you won't have to had put your engine thru all the stress) and has a much lower fuel cost (as you won't have wasted the stuff riding on the brake lights of the vehicle in front)

it's a lot cheaper than spending out wads on your engine which you have no hope of recovering in the long run
