if whatever caused the puncture has gone in straight and it is as you say in the midddle of the tyre, then you can repair it rather than have it replaced.
If however the object that has caused the puncture is bent inside or outside of the carcass, then then it may need a replacement.
But becareful where you take it as some places willl only replace rather than repair causing you an unnecesssary bill.
If the object is a screw then it has effectivley caused the puncture and paradoxically repaired it at the same time, and you may well be able to ride it around for a while until it is convinient for you to get it fixed.
