Re: IPB went in France

After lots of deliberating I decided to do the job myself. Not hard to strip down the primary but i am pretty sure that dealership in France did not do what they said they did. The bearing has quite a few ridges on the rollers and there were iron filings on the drain plug. It makes a noise when you turn it whilst its in its seating. But we only did 500 miles from getting it fixed and noticing the noise again. I need to pull the bearing and I will do what Phil has suggested about checking the trannt alighnment. I have no idea how i can prove i was fiddled by the French dealership (if I was). But when I went to take the starter off as per the manual there was no way it had been off before, Although I guess you might get the inner primary off without removing the starter. The job took only three hours tops, is that about how long it would take? because Chester HD wanted the bike for two days.

Anyway hopfully with all the advice on this site I will get the bike back together by the end of the week.
