I have an iphone with tomtom on it. You can get a sealed little baggie that has a small 3.5 jack seal going through it. Plug this in to your iphone then and ear phone on the other end.
Test the volume other wise it feels like someone shove a spike through your head.
This hangs around your neck on a cord. Seems to pick up a signal ok through my jacket. Tomtom picks up a signal really quick.

I have a 3G iphone, as Sal says they are much quicker that the 2G. Camara is crap....end of.
