To compare, my old 94 Evo RK made 42 bhp when completely std, and then 60 bhp when it had a SE carb, ignition module, modded silencers ... and finally with the addition of a new cam (Crane Fireball 310b I think it was) it made 71 bhp (all figures at the rear wheel).

Your doing well to get 50mpg, after the mods on my RK I averaged around 39 to 40 mpg. If you went for a more agressive cam you'd get more power for sure, but I expect your mpg would suffer.
they did mention the dip, they blamed the carb but as it smoothed out afterwards were not overly focused on it. One of the reasons i went for the EV13 cam is that it gives all its improvement in the middle third of the rev range (3.5-5k rpm) which is were in reality it spends most of its life, my old fxr had a ev27 and was much more punchy at higher speeds because of it but with the road king i didnt see the point and wanted the grunt lower down, i guess because the cam gives it all in the middle cruising mpg is not really affected as much.
