Re: Hamish down

Hello all,

Many thanks for wishes and visits. Your support has helped enormously.

I'm progressing well, will be out soon.

Can I please ask you all to spare a thought for Diana, her mother died last week and she flies back to Argentina tomorrow 9th. She's back here on the 18th.

Thanks again to you all,

Re: Hamish down

Went in to see Hamish again today. Geez I'll be glad when he's home & I can forget about trying to look like I give a shit.

Anyway, he's making fantasmagorical progress. I got there and as soon as the old git woke up & remembered where he was, he swung his legs out of bed, stood up to a huge zimmer-frame contraption, then eased himself into his wheelchair. Would'nt let me give him a hand, so I kicked his slipper a long way under his bed. Ha ferkin ha.

Diana arrived with clean clothes for him (yes, he was starting to pen & ink) so, with rigid leg leading the way of the rest of him on the 'chair, we sauntered off for a coffee in the concourse. That Costa Coffee shop makes a lovely regular coffee.

I was so tempted to vere off course into a wall, but he was wise to my attempts and so I thought I'd wait until some future visit when he gotten a bit complacent.

Seriously, for a sec or two, the progress he's made/ is making is amazing. It looks very much like he could be home for Christmas. Hamish being mobile, or close to it, will allow Diana to go off back to Argentina with one less worry, and in the great scheme of things, that's 'kin brilliant.

As I said in my last post, Hamish really would appreciate some more visitors. If anyone needs a lift in to see him, gimme a yell, I'm sure I'll be able to help sort something out. He's still got a huge stash of choccies (in the cabinet beside his bed - shush) so you can grab those & push him out of his cell (I mean, the ward) for a coffee.

Re: Hamish down

I popped in to see the big fella yesterday afternoon (Wednesday). He's in good spirits and seemed very glad to see me. When I got in there, he had his eyes closed listening to music...when he saw me...he was all smiles.
I stayed for about an hour and we chatted about loads of things.
It turns out that the surgeon that chopped my finger off is the same one that put Hamish back together.

Brian.

I wondered how she managed to create an ankle

Seriously though, it was really nice to see you.

Best wishes to your family.

Looking foward to seeing the project

It's thanks to all the good thoughts, wishes and visits of so many, and the care I'm getting at Addenbrookes, that I am getting better. I'll be out soon

Re: Hamish down

Well, they finally got fed up with me and are sending me home.

I'm expecting to be picked up at 5pm so should be home around 6pm, coincidentally the time Diana lands at Heathrow.

Thanks to everyone for their support,
see you soon,
