Black Bear open day & camp out, 3-5th April

Friday 3rd/ Saturday 4th/ Sunday 5th April.

Black Bear are having an open day on Saturday 4th April. I thought it might be nice to make it our first camp out and breakie at the White Lodge at Attleborough (35 miles north of Black Bear along the A11)

The landlord's up for it, so if anyone wants to camp Friday &/or Saturday, he'll supply breakfast, evening meals, a BBQ, covered smoking area, good beer. Full English breakfasts will be £4.95 & £5.95. Less than the cost of camping most places.

The camping is free, for one or both nights, as long as we buy some booze & grub in the pub. To help us do this, the landlord, Terry, is laying on a band on the Friday & more music Saturday night.

This isn't a rally, just an excuse for a ride & drink. The pub's big enough for quite a large gathering, and there's a covered, enclosed smoking area out the back.

The proposed order of events is:

Friday night camp, band & booze-up.
Saturday breakfast (8-10am), then run down to Black bear individually, then an organised run out from there from early afternoon (2:30pm), ending up back at the pub for another evening under canvas.
Sunday breakfast again (8-9am), then head off (10am) to Bury St Edmunds for the 11am start of the Easter Egg run (see post #25 for details), before heading home.

Anyone that's up for it leave your name below. Any rider's club member or their friends are welcome to attend.

Cheers

Baff

The address of the White Lodge is:
London Rd, Attleborough, Norfolk, NR17 1AY Website

Black Bear is at:
Black Bear Lane, Newmarket, Suffolk, CB8 0JT Website

Those having said they're intending to come include: Baff, Foby, Nick, Wormy, Mr P, Clan Ken, Kimbo, Stumpy (part-timer), Tealess, Flossie, Chris, Steve, Tony, Eric

I noticed on the recce for the ride out, that Bressingham Steam Musuem is only a few miles from the pub. If anyone's thinking of getting there earlyish on Friday, you might want to take a look. Over 40 steam locomotives, fully restored, and the official Dad's Army exhibition (I know you southerners like to stick it up 'em). Link

Stock up on funky(girl's) t-shirts and knock out your jewellery at 40 per cent of the price , tell the hog roast guys to cook the stuffing, and it's a goodun

I may just turn up early on the Saturday at the White Lodge and spend the day with you doing whatever you do.
That will probably be the first time the Road Bling has turned a wheel since October .

If the weather's shite, Terry, the landlord, has said it'll be fine to sleep in his covered smoking area.

This is Anglia region of the Rider's Club trying to be on the ball, Steve. Anyway, I figure you'll be able to donate a prize or two for the club's 60th Anniversary Rally from your extra profits.
