2010 Anglia AGM suggestion

'Lo

How about holding the next regional AGM more centrally?

As Anglia's finally becoming a region, with participating members in P'Boro, Cambridge and Lowestoft, the White Lodge at Attleborough would seem a logical place to hold it. It would mean that no one had to travel for much more than an hour and a half or so to get there.

If it was held on a Saturday afternoon, there'd be plenty of daylight beforehand to allow peeps to get there, and to get home easily afterwards. Of course, that'd also allow us to have lunch in the pub. It'd also mean that if anyone wanted to ride there, they'd have daylight to ride in.

Those that wish to could camp over, or get a B&B in the town, so we could have a piss up and possible ride out on the Sunday.

Anyone else like the idea? We'd need to get moving on it if it's a goer, as I think the AGM's supposed to be held in February.

I think I raised the early year AGM's at the last reps meeting and I think Colin took it on board.

The fact is if you have a regional or even a club AGM in Feb the chances are not everyone will of had their new yearly card yet. To get it in the Feb issue of the quin you need to send off or renew online at the latest just before Christmas and a lot of folks don't do that what with other expenses.

Therefore some rejoin in Jan or Feb when they realise that the Feb/March quin has not arrived.

It's the same as having a late year one in Nov/Dec your meeting could be run and dominated by members who's cards run out at the end of Dec and don't rejoin!

March/April is the optimate time by then your bona fida members have rejoined. And the overnight camping may be warmer Baff.

The later the better for me, Baza, as long as it's pre-rally season. I just looked back at last year and saw Feb. My post was actually about location rather than date, but thanks for pointing it out.

Re: 2010 Anglia AGM suggestion

March is a much better time for the AGM (if Foby agrees) hopefully nice days after the gloom of winter and biking for us fair weathered bikers (Flossy ) back on track. Even Mr B bike should be all put back together by then
Location is a great Idea everyone should be able to reach that destination, no matter from what part of the region the come from,

Saturday Afternoon should work out well for everyone too, day light hours to travel in, those that don't want to stay over still have day light hours to travel back in.

Will discuss with others that don't use the form, at the next couple of meetings, if not before on the telephone.

That's exactly why I'm suggesting now, well in advance, that it's held towards the 'middle' of Anglia. To allow all those in the region to have their say, but not only about the location.

Luckily, we get most active members at our meets across the area, so we'll be able to discuss it. Making sure it's in the 'Quin early will enable any other members who neither come online or get to meetings to attend.

Of course, most members who don't get to rallies, meets, runs or don't read the forum are unlikely to suddenly be interested enough to worry about where the AGM is held.

BUT.... if it's central, then if any of those hitherto unseen members do decide to show up, they'll have more chance of getting to it.

not always the case, it's surprising how interested some club members are who don't do the organised stuff but like to do their own thing - as a region, Lincolnshire is very much that way.
