Tuesday discussion anyone? Olympic torch

If you had the honour of carrying one of these would you sell it?

I'd hang onto it - value will probably appreciate over time.

Seriously though, it's a shame some folk feel they must sell them, but if needs must.....

"Hey Grandad, is that you in that picture carrying an Olympic torch?!"
"Yes my boy, oh it was one of the proudest days of my life......"
"Where's the torch now Grandad?"
"....sold it to pay for a pack of B&H and a bottle of Scrumpy."

....shame....

The honour of being selected to carry the torch should have been just that, an honour. The torches should have then been given back to the Olympic Committee to be auctioned off for charity.

Re: Tuesday discussion anyone? Olympic torch

I'd forget all the headline-grabbing amounts being bandied about them being sold for on ebay. Most of the silly figures I've seen are bid by auction-wreckers.

The media love to report ebay 'sales' when most won't go through, but hey, why ruin a good story?

Let 'em sell 'em if that's what they want to do. If the Olympic guys make runners pay for them, they're theirs to do with as they wish. It was always a stupid idea anyway. Why have thousands of the damn things made?

Exactamondo, I thought there was meant to be an Olympic 'Torch' not 'Torches'...
