Ding Ding !!

Some of you may remember last summer when I took redundancy from the Post Office . On leaving after 20 years I decided to take both the Class 2 and Class 1 HGV test ,which I passed...eventually . Unfortunately work was not very forthcoming due to an obvious lack of experience ,although I did eventually get some Class 2 work ...with the Post Office . Fast Forward to March of this year and only having about one months work since Jan 1st I decided I needed to take drastic action so applied for a job....as a bus driver .

The whole thing took place pretty quickly and come the end of April I started my training . Which was great as it meant I was earning...albeit a rather small amount whilst training ,but it also meant that I would be unable to attend the Super Rally in Holland (for which I had already booked the Eurotunnel ) so Thursday morning when I should have been tearing across Europe , I was sat on a draughty old bus at a Bus Garage in Croydon where I was to take my PCV test .Literally as the examiner walked towards my bus the heavens opened and it pissed down until we got back to the garage when it duely stopped . But when the examiner held out his and and congratulated me I didnt care about the weather.

So, in a weeks time, after I learn the routes , and all the paperwork ( this company must be responsible for half of the rain forest disappearing they use so much paper) I will be out on the road taking all the old pensioners shopping , taking little angels to and from school and being spat at by ignorant f**kers ...OH JOY

I do have reservations, all shift work, including weekends!!! when I should be with my kids , but I guess beggars can't be choosers.

PS HDRCGB membership card guarantees free travel on my bus

In this club he won't be alone in qualifying for a bus pass. I know of a few who already have got a free bus pass. 5 or 10 years from now it might well be the majority.

Re: Ding Ding !!

Way to go Sal, I was a driver/conductor for Southdown in Brighton before I came to the US. It wasn`t so bad. I quickly learned that you get what you give with the punters. Give them a smile & a wink, the day passes quicker.
Of course doing the last buses back to the council estates from the pubs on a friday & saturday nights can be nerve racking.
Drove this route all the time, & this vehicle umpteen times....

Re: Ding Ding !!

Excellent news

Congrats on your new job.

A mate of mine is a bus driver, says it's the best job he's ever had.

(Now you're qualified, how long does the extra training take. You know, judging the distance in the mirrors of the passenger running for your bus, only for you to pull out just as they were about to catch you )

only joking.............enjoy
