Perfect Day!!

Today we went on the Sea Trek trip that I booked yonks ago.

Truly truly fantastic ...bright sunny day ...flat calm ...perfect . We got all kitted out in life jackets and such and were loaded into the boat ...a massive RIB (massive inflatable with a rigid bottom ) and set off at a hell of a lick ( 40 knots ...which is FAST ) out to sea.

We saw seals ...we lifted crab and lobster pots and got to handle velvet crabs and the most beautiful blue lobster you ever did see ( they don't turn red until you cook them apparently). We saw Guilliemots,Kittiwakes, Shags, and Puffins.....we went into caves and saw Lion Jellyfish ...and loads of other types that I can't remember the names of .....we went under cliffs and stacks that were HUGE ...and made you realise just how little and insignificant you are in the grand scale of things ...and then magic of all magic things I have ever seen ....we were right in the middle of a group of 4 basking sharks .three big ones and a baby one ..I swear the big ones were 20ft long ...and no further away from the boat than 6ft ...it was absolutely magnificent ......they were so close that you could see right into their huge open mouths ...it was awesome ...we felt really really priviledged ....Donald our captain couldn't believe how lucky we were ......trippers are lucky to see one shark usually ...we saw four together ...then another two smaller ones at other points along our way. We also got a very brief glimpse of a Minke whale .....but it didn't hang around for us to get a good ogle.
The kids were blown away by it all ....they totally loved going fast and bouncing along ...and they were genuinely fascinated by the creatures we saw.
If it was possible my youngest 2, Digory John and Aislng Hazel, would be in A and E having threatment for sprained grin muscles!!

I now ache in every muscle in my body from balancing on the side tube and holding on ...but I can honestly say that I have never had a day quite like today ...and I shall go to sleep with a big smile on my, rosy-cheeked from all the fresh sea air, face.

So far it's working out good Mac!

While the kids are on holiday now we can dedicate more time to them and work in between activities, but when they are at school me and the bride are out on the bike like a couple of kids
