Bargtjest Party

Good luck to HIPPY, ROGER and the crew up at the Tan Hill this weekend. Hope the weather holds good and the beer flows freely.

Re: Bargtjest Party

the weather was bizarrely **PERFECT**...cloudless and sunny Friday and Saturday....and this morning it was the best place to be if the ride home in my case was any indication. I doubt there has been a better weekend up there weather-wise all bloody year

Great atmosphere, top music, intrepid busking sesh on Saturday night...superb food/ale from the Tan Hill Inn people, plenty of good yarns and fun moments....and a very respectfully-observed minute's silence for Boss and for Danny from East London (who passed away at the weekend).

Only a lucky few got to see the image of the weekend (I wasn't one of them)...but it musta been Patrick aka The French Owl blasting back up the M6 to Tan Hill from Boss's funeral at a recorded 90mph on his 1950s K model ...... with Pat and crew in the Volvo totally unable to keep up with the man despite Pat having the pedal to the metal!!!!!

Oh, and the wet T-shirt contest made a welcome return

A couple of pix ............

Big thanks to Roger and Chris for making it possible again, & of course the bands, the Tann Hill staff and everyone who turned up contributing to brilliant event.

Special thanks to the 'Soggy Back Room Bottom Boys' (& girls) all playing and singing their hearts out with the maestro Mr 12 String at the helm till 3.30am.......... Brilliant.

Great to finally meet Mike Benis after all this time.

Roll on the next one....

Re: Bargtjest Party

Many thanks to everyone who did the work and to Rog for sorting out my ticket. Had a brilliant time.

And of course a big thanks to Chris for sorting me out on the northern definition of dainty

What's more I didn't get lost all weekend (thanks to Debbie and Pat!)

Hi there Mr Hedgehog! Good to meet you, too. Just a shame I had temporarily misplaced my brain at the time....

Cheers

Mike

Great photos there Dave and Mick! It makes it so much easier being too lazy (or overfed or drunk) to take any pics of my own.

Re: Bargtjest Party

Thanks to everyone who came to the second Bargtjest Rally. Weather was perfect, for a change.

Thanks also for your generosity, we collected over £200 that will be going to support Boss's charity.

Now some pictures:

Mike Benis scoops the long distance award
He did over 1,000 miles, with the run down to Boss's funeral and back. 'I could have done it with my eyes shut', he commented later.

The Wet Tee Shirt Contestants...

Despite the fact that no sheep entered, Dave still agreed to compare the competition.

During our stay, Mr 12 String and I had secured some palatial accommodation via some extremely well appreciated courtesy of one of the Tann Hill staff.

Poor Patrick hadn't realised his tent was still unpacked until 3.45 am at which point we were more than happy for him to share our grand surroundings for the night.

After much consideration, and seeing this photo, I now realise the creaking, squeaking and scattering we heard throughout the remainder of the night was not in fact the wind effecting our superb accommadation, but Patricks nocturnal mustache leaping of his top lip & scavaging the enviroment for the remnants of our sausage rolls.

Needless to say, at day break after some good old early morning exercise it had managed to secure itself back to his nice warm accomodating top lip before he'd even noticed it had gone.

At first I though it was his snoring that had actually frightened his mustache away, though on reflection it seems obvious that a proud mustache like that needs regular exercise and a varied diet.
