Wink What shall we do with the Welsh then?

Seeing as we (English) conquered the Welsh many moons ago before The Principality of Wales in 1297 they are really represented in the Cross of St George. Name: brit.gif

Union Jack should include Welsh flag, says MP - Telegraph

Where do you think it should go if at all?.................

"The Government is keen to make the Union flag a positive symbol of Britishness reflecting the diversity of our country today and encouraging people to take pride in our flag."

Should have more room when Northern Ireland gains their freedom.

And there's some in "Northern Ireland" who would like the Ulster banner included--

-Red hand and all.
Ulster gaining "freedom" is not on their agenda.

Why not? It'd stop Plaid Cymru's lunatic fringe from burning it!

It's a myth that the Welsh actually want independence BTW; without the English they'd just go back to their traditional sport of hating each other, which was the main reason why Edward the First had such an easy time subjugating them. Even to this day North and South mix even less successfully than in England; it's easier being a Sais down here than a Gog.

Would that be St. George in his Rugby World Cup finalist suit?

Actually I agree with you; one of the more refreshing things about living in Wales is the genuine pride the Welsh have in their country. I'm perfectly happy to see the Welsh flag flown alongside the Union Jack, as the Saltire is in Scotland and the Cross of St. George should be in England.

Then again the Welsh haven't had the image of their flag sullied by its use as a football yobboes' totem, as have the English. Thank goodness that perception seems to be on the wane.

The Welsh have spilt their blood all over the world in the in a British uniform so have the English ,Scots and Irish and if the Welsh want a Dragon on the union Flag lets have it put on and if any of the 4 nations want to break away from the union then fair play to them ,i personally hope they dont.

Re: What shall we do with the Welsh then?

I've saluted the Union Flag, I've been a flag bearer and I've respected it, however I've never liked the fact that there is no Welsh representation.

So England conquered Wales, not all of it as it happens, well France conquered England, or was it the Italians, or the Dutch. I cannot see why Wales cannot be represented.

But the point is missed the Red Dragon is the Royal Flag, if the Union Flag represents the flags of the Saints, then the flag of Saint David should be included. Then again in this multi-cultural nation of ours I'm surprised we have a flag representing just Christian Saints

Or a Welsh Kernow Special
