How about the V-3 Museum at Mimoyecques? It's on my list of places to go and it's near to Calais.

Check it out here and here

Re: WW11........North France.....

St Omer to Pegasus bridge is about 200miles so you will not have much time to look around if you only have three days. We have just sold our house in Normandy so know that area pretty well. To the east of Ranville (Pegasus Bridge) is the coastal battery of Merville-Franceville. At Pegasus Bridge there is a good museum the original bridge is in the grounds, the one crossing the river is it's replacement. There is also a British cemetary of 2151 graves in the village. If you go look for the grave of the youngest soldier to die on D-Day, he was 16. The remains of The Floating Harbour at Arromanches is worth a look, there is a good 360 degree cinema at the top of the cliff showing footage of the landings. Also there is a museum down in the town. A bit further along the coast is the Batterie de Longues at Longues-sur-Mer which is a very impressive German artillery battery which still has some of it's guns. Next you come to Port-en-Bessin which is a pretty little fishing village, but on the edge of town heading to Bayeux is the Museé des Epaves which is a museum of tanks and relics recovered from the sea bed. Bayeux has the main British cemetary of almost 5000 and a comprehensive museum located just nearby. Back up to the coast and you will be at Colleville-sur-Mer and Omaha beach. I could go on there is certainly a lot to see. If you want more info drop me a PM. Have a good trip

As said above excellent plus more.

Some of the memorials bring a tear to your eye as well.

Alway's visit the different cemetries and sign the book, because if it hadn't of been for these young men we certainly would not be here today

That Cinema is something else & you need to hang on whilst doing the trip

Re: WW11........North France.....

....The German Cemetery near Omaha is worth a visit - completely different 'vibe' (?) than the American one.

Have a good trip, but try and mix the cemeteries and monuments with some other things - they can become very depressing, the sheer numbers of crosses of young lads, barely old enough to shave...and most depressing the 'known unto God' ones.

We will remember

Have a good safe trip !

Chris
