R17 Rally is going well

Popped up for 6 hours or so today to see the troops. A few not so shameless pics.

Even the weather held out for us which was good, altho the infamous Sheppey wind did blow.
The bands were all very good, the youngsters in the afternoon especialy. Thanks again folks.
Many thanks to South East Region 17 for an excellent weekend from the Sussex Coasters and personally from Kim and myself .
Great to chill and chat around the tents with new and old friends in Region 17, good old faithful New Forest and other visiting regions.
All rallies have a different character and 17's Pitch and Party on a sunny but sometimes windy Isle of Sheppey is no exception.
I would like to congratulate all 17's members for their obvious enthusiasm, participation in making things work and I was particularly impressed by the genuine friendliness that made all their guests feel at home at this party
.

Attitude, is something that we should have all gotten over by our age and that lack of attitude seems to be a common factor at all HDRCGB rallies. It gives us the freedom to enjoy ourselves in a congenial atmosphere and have a few beers and party in the good company of friends .
If in the future, the integrity of this concept is threatened and we have to have HDRCGB and Fed members only at out rallies, then so be it.
Since the smoking ban, things have changed. But, not necessarily for the worse. A lot of people including myself, a chain smoker, feared it would be the death of rally attendances, but lets face it .....
the bars are less crowded and with good outside areas, and weather, its increased the capacity of some of the smaller sports clubs we use for rallies. Those who want to watch the bands or dance have more space, the immediate bar areas seem less crowded and we still get the chance to chat outside without conversations getting drowned out by the bands and the disco .
having 6 rallies in the South over such a short period...
(the Dart, New Forest, SE, IOW/Cornish and Triple) is a struggle for most peoples stamina and will effect attendances .
Perhaps it be good if there was at least a 2 week gap between them, perhaps it would also encourage a bit more movement from South to North and visa versa .

I love our rallies , with a little more inter regional co-operation and support , there's no reason why they can't all be successful .
