Friday debate .... bring back....

National Service - instead of sending people to jail (for those people who are repeat offenders) - ie car theft, stabbings, etc make them join the forces

what do people think?

Re: Friday debate .... bring back....

Yep - give the little b*stards some flaming discipline!
My dad did his National Service in Portsmouth and he ended up a drill sergeant. My sisters and myself were brought up with the 'seen but not heard' philosophy - we were disciplined as and when we needed it - it didn't do us much harm. These days all you seem to get is parents making excuses for their childs behaviour.
'He's deprived' 'He has ADHD' 'He has behavioural problems' Rubbish - give em a good kick up the backside and teach em some flaming respect!

(I have my tin hat and flack jacket on awaiting the incoming! )

Re: Friday debate .... bring back....

Unfortunately, the forces don't want those little sh!ts running around with guns and rocket launchers!!

The answer is boot camps (or Detention Centres as they were called in my day). Sadly, the tree-hugging, knit-your-own-sandles brigade think that the little darlings may miss their mummies and that would infringe their human rights.

So we'll just continue telling them that they are naughty and mustn't kill people untill someone has the guts and gumption to realise that discipline is not a dirty word and it will actually help to give kids a sense of direction by teaching them right from wrong.

Sorry, I almost turned into a politician then

Re: Friday debate .... bring back....

It would help if parents disciplined their kids from the start We get an office full of 'parents' and I use the term very loosely, with their unruly little brats running round and screaming and using foul language...and they do nothing!

I however - tell the little brats to sit down and be quiet or they will be kicked out - funny how quiet it goes

(then ya get the filthy looks from the parents, and you just know they are thinking 'How dare you tell little Kylie/Alfie off!' )

Re: Friday debate .... bring back....

I'm with Bexx on this one.

We pay our servicemen to defend this country, not to sort out a load of arrogant foul-mouthed, ill-behaved toe-rags (and that's just the parents ) who blame everyone and everything except themselves for the useless little scrotes which they breed.

To bring back National Service would be an insult to the fine men and women who volunteer for the Forces, of whom I am proud to be a former member.

Have to agree with Big Kev's point, though; there's nowt wrong with a bit of military-style discipline. As a young soldier, I ended up doing 28 days detention in Colchester, at the Military Corrective Training Centre.... better known as the "glasshouse". It was punishment, enough to make me convinced that I didn't want to do it again, which is surely the object of the exercise.

There's no point in equipping prisons with luxuries like saunas, comfy beds and televisions; the whole point of the exercise should be that if you go there you should not benefit from such things, and therefore you will not want to do time again.

Awaiting the Brigade of the Bleeding Heart to tell me what a callous brute I am for daring to think such harsh thoughts of the poor deprived little darlings.

They're not deprived, they're depraved, and until we recognise this simple fact we'll continue to suffer from generations of malingering dossers who know that they can (literally) get away with murder.

I agree with Kev. Send repeat offenders to Boot Camps (the Outer Hebredies spring to mind). As for the human rights of offenders? Screw them, what about the rights of the people they have wronged?
BTW, the right punishment for anti-social scum would be public caning (the way they do it in Singapore). Put the offenders on the council green and give them a good butt whooping. And don't forget to invite the public. I bet anyone subject to this treatment will think twice about offending again.

Re: Friday debate .... bring back....

Well something has got to be done thats for sure and its correct the services dont want them ,the army has changed a lot over the years ,all the trouble should be sorted out at street level tough coppers not afraid to tackle yobs and a court system that backs up the cops with sentences that fit the crime .

In the paper today a woman got a 12 month conditional discharge after being found guilty of assault on a yob who was damaging a war memorial the yob got nothing and said the memorial meant nothing to him .

what do people think?

1. Dig a deep pit

2. Place a knife in the pit

3. Throw the transgressors into the pit

4. Admire the Darwinian Principle

5. Shoot the survivor.

It will not work with the brats of today, frist off they wont turn up when they are told to so the MP will have to try to find them plus at the frist chance they get they will go AWOL.
