| Replacing ones screen!! + Free screen on offer.
Hi there I bought a replacement screen from H D Guernsey and it arrived yesterday, All's well so far!! except the new screen is a load thinner than the original, This is a problem with the bolts holding it all together, because the nuts are capped they wouldn't tighten up, so I had to grind them all down!! this aint easy, So if anyone else is thinking of getting a replacement screen for a 2003 FLHR Road King then consider replacing the screws as well, then at least you will have some in stock if the grinding bit isn't to successful!! I need to get two more to replace a couple that I ground down a little to much!! P.S I now have an old/used original screen for a 03 FLHR it is in OK condition for a screen that has covered 65K!! It hasn't any cracks but it does have a few stickers on it including a current Switzerland road tax disc!! If anyone wants it for cutting practice ect or replacing there own then send me an email it's free but be quick!! first come first serve. Dave cox North London.

Yes please Dave. I want to get the black tinted film they use on car windows on the bottom half so it looks like 50's 60's style. ![]() Didn't want to do it to mine in case I bugger it up. Last edited by BaZa®; 07-11-2008 at 10:09 AM. |

Did you order the correct European {CE stamped} or a US version? The US version is thinner and not CE stamped but cheaper. Replacement kit US 58193-94 UK 58327-97 |

I think the smoked is only available as a US version, I believe it's the same for most of the non standard fitment screens. IE If you want anything different from the original, taller, shorter, smoked, quickly detachable etc. it will be the US thickness. Probably the only exceptions would be for example on the RK they dropped the screen height for the international models a few years ago, so you could use that replacement blade instead and it would be the same thickness. I assume the EU standards test require a thicker screen material to pass than the US ones, thus the difference! I only know this because I too ordered a screen a few years back, also from Guernsey H-D as it happens and picked up on the difference. I got a smoked chopped screen blade, it is a thinner than the original but had no problem with my oem screws length and the acorn nuts! It is listed on the fitting instruction sheet though as 57924-98 International, 4 in shorter than stock height where as none of the others are listed as international. The screw length and part Nos. though are the same for the US domestic and HDI markets, so that's a bit of an odd one. 2452 x 2 {No size given} 2921 x 11 #12 x 5/8" |

Oh PS on the Baza theme what I was after, as I thought it would be the best of both worlds when I got my lower screen was the H-D adjustable one. H-D dropped it, I can only assume it probably had a lot of issues. ![]() 57705-02 ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT WINDSHIELD FOR ROAD KING This two-piece detachable windshield allows you to tailor the screen height for maximum riding comfort. The simple cam-lever adjustment permits the clear upper section to be raised from 17" to 20" (measured from the headlamp cut-out) to provide maximum weather protection and visibility. The dark-tinted lower section conceals the adjustment feature, and small raised dots provide vibration isolation. 57705-02 Fits ’94-later FLHR models. Will fit ’04 FLHRS models with the additional purchase of Mounting Hardware Kit P/N 58221-04 |
