Poorly Back

Had a bad back for a couple of days (old pit injury) - am trying to alleviate the pain with JD, Co dranthemer (? - think thats it) and a traditional jamaican herbal remedy. Its still killing - any good recommendations?

Re: Poorly Back

Watch anything with Codene mate, I was put on DF118s (Dehydrocodene) for my back pain after Distalgesic was banned. Been hooked for the last two years and still get back pain

The best thing is, keep active, if you are driving go to halfords and get a Lumber support, brilliant thing that fits loose on your car seat (about Ł36). Best thing I ever bought and I never drive a car without it and better than a rolled up towel.
Get yourself a copy of Treat Your Own Back (McKenzie) and do the exercises, without these items I am not sure I would be walking let alone riding a bike.

Stop slouching watching TV.

Have to agree with the JD muscle relaxant, got a glass beside me with ice.

Seriously though mate keep moving, lots of walking and those back exercises in the book. Believe it or not, I am training for a Triathalon in April (along with Linda and my son Ash) and about ten years ago I was told the the only hope for my back was surgery.

My worst attack of pain to date was January 2006 just 4 days after I had ordered my Street Bob which I thought I would never ride. Together with the above and a few Physio sessions and Gobowen Hospital I was fit by May 06 when I went to pick the bike up.

I will always have pain but just have to live with it. I am not sure what the pain Killers do now, other than when I forget to take them I feel like sh*t

Anyway sorry to go on, all the best.

Re: Poorly Back

sounds kiddie, but a hot water bottle to get heat into the muscles round the target area also helps, as does stretching (eg sitting on the floor and trying to reach your toes a few times to free off the muscles) after a bloody hot bath.

that or get Maureen to give you a going seeing to - won't help with your back much, but you'll feel better afterwards

Re: Poorly Back

Your NOT gonna believe this. I got up this morning and had to literally run to the toilet 3 times in about 15 minutes. I said to the missus it must have been the dinner last night. Then i came on here and read Bazas bit about the tablets.........sure enough i had taken 4 co dranthemer! Must read the packets in future particularly when im drinking! oh well IM NOT GOING ANYWHERE TODAY! Thanks for the tips. I have a lumbar support and the hot water bottle works too. Much better today (except my arse) and hopefully be fine by weekend.
