Angry If you are Acquitted of ANY court case you won't get your COSTS recovered

Proposed new legislation would stop people who take councils, government agencies and so on to court from being able to claim back all costs if they win.

Another hard-won element of British justice to be lost?

Hopefully not. There's a petition you can sign to help stop it happening: Petition to: ensure an acquitted defendant's rights to costs recovery from the Court Central Funds remain unchanged. | Number10.gov.uk

I got the info on this from MAG by the way. Well worth joining if you want to protect the biker lifestyle....

Cheers

Don't follow this.
If you take the council to court, the council will be the defendant, not you.
I think the petitioners concern is not with justice but with loss of earnings for the ambulance chasers.

Re: So you take council to court, win & can't claim all costs?

I think it's more aimed at people hiring expensive defence lawyers and barristers, and getting off on a technicality.
They won't be able to re-claim the cost of the lawyer, just whatever they would get if they were a legal aid lawyer.
Seems to me to be aimed at stopping people contesting speeding and parking fines etc.
