Yes mate, up in the loft, I have got a full set of Esso coins still on the orginal collection card plus lots of other spare coins and car coins on the original collecting card from Shell.
Those were the days eh, when I was 16 and had a Gilera moped, I used to put a gallon of 2star petrol and 25/1 oil mixture in the tank and it used to cost me 50 pence, that was back in 1976 when I used to earn Ł16.00 for working monday to saturday morning in a garage converting ex-military vehicles for civilian use, mostly land rover series 2 and cut-away models and Bedford RL and QL lorries.
Christ how time flies!

Re: Old UK Petrol Stations.

No pics, but there is one in South Molton, Devon, which still serves fuel across the pavement, and I think Pincombes in Chulmleigh do the same.

I worked at a Chevron garage in 76, had to wear a uniform, and on Sundays me and me mate used to play Buddy Holly and Everly Brothers tunes over the forecourt speakers and serve people and clean the windscreens and check their oil (especially the ladies-not that they were interested in us spotty youth's) The owner of the Garage owned a Jensen Interseptor which he never drove, but we did round the fourecourt and the back of the garage Happy days but cashing up at midnight was scary No fun in filling up these days

Plenty like these around if you know where to look,
most people think they are abandoned but when the fuel strikes hit the large forecourts these kind of places suddenly get busy again!
