Don't understand the problem,if someone took over,then the MoCo could build the engines. That would be a source of income for them. The only reason I can see for not doing it,is if it's worth more in tax write off. |

Given that Buell only sell about 13,000 bikes world wide per year (compared to about 60,000 sportsters), is it really worth investing in new tooling, upkeep of premises and a host of other overheads for a product that, at best, accounts for about 3 or 4 % of your total sales ? Buell ultimately was set up to lure the sports bike riders over to the MoCo. However,as most sports bike riders have little brand loyalty, it was not the best plan as most Buells are bought by Harley owners. As for selling it as a going concern, I think Harley are smart enough to realise that technology wise, that's a lot of useful r&d info. On top of that, Erik is back under their roof, he after all the man who designed the FLT and FXR amongst other things.

It doesn't make sense to simply close Buell down, I agree, after all Harley also owns MV and is trying to sell them off.
