Classic Bike Clubs' Show at Stanford Hall 24/05/09

All bikes from flat tankers to Japanese.

From past experience, if the weather stays this wet, they might cancel due to ground conditions. Theres no way of knowing if it's on or not till you get there.

Good excuse for a ride anyway.

Re: Classic Bike Clubs' Show at Stanford Hall 24/05/09

I was brought up in Rugby and Stamford Hall is one of the reasons I got into bikes. Me and my mate Nasher used to go to all the bike rallies there, never had any money so we used to sneak in the back way and afterwards, we would go to the Chequers Inn for a pint.

We also used to go to the Fox at Lutterworth on a Saturday night, always at least 100 bikes there. It was run by two elderly sisters and was looked after by the local bike club, used to love going to see the D.T.'s playing in the barn out back and drinking to much Whitbread Forest Brown Ale.

Anyone remember the Fox ?

I was drinking in the Fox a few weeks ago. I went to see Simon Hickling ( ex DTs frontman ) and his band who are still going strong after many years. It's still a biker friendly pub although a bit more upmarket than it used to be. I met some members from the Naseby region who use it a lot.
I used to watch the DTs years ago, I've seen them several times in the Regent club in Rugby and many times in the General Wolfe in Coventry with Steve Marriott. Great live band.

Hey Clive, chances are that I know you from way back, your name rings a bell, we will have to catch up at one of the rallies.

I remember seeing the D.T.'s at the Regent club and the Railway club on Hillmorton road, the more Simon drank, the better he sang. Does he still keep his harmonicas in pints of beer ?

Re: Classic Bike Clubs' Show at Stanford Hall 24/05/09

I think he probably does Garry, he's still bike mad as well, i spoke to him last week at the Harvester in Solihull and he told me he's just bought an old BSA A10 to ride, he doesn't seem keen on Harleys and generally takes the piss, also the landlord there owns two so he gets the stick as well.

Any road up i'm game for Sunday if the weather stays dry so shall we go mob handed?

Thumbs up Re: Classic Bike Clubs' Show at Stanford Hall 24/05/09

If anybody fancies going we'll be leaving the Lime Kilns pub on the A5 at Hinckley at 11am to ride to Stamford Hall.
