Re: Ride up to Oswestry

Have just checked the route options on the RAC site, there is a more direct route for us, saving 40+ miles and keeping the Motorway miles to a minimum (Rachel really doesn't like them). It would appear this option would offer a meet at the A458 / A5 junction just after the end of the M54. Can we meet up there? If so what time do you think you would be there?

Mark- Tricky,Spider and Steve the Post all live close to me and assuming they all go, I'm pretty sure their preferred route would be the A5.
So we can all meet at Towcester as you suggest, just need to agree a route,so come on people, the boring but quicker route via motorway or the slower but scenic route via the A5 .
If the plan is to leave around lunchtime on the Friday, that gives us plenty of time to get there and get the tents up early

Re: Ride up to Oswestry

whichever way we all go Motorway or A road the end point has to be the A5, on my map at least. Going on the A5 from Silverstone is more attractive to me than the Motorway however it's even further out of our way. I would like to turn up on site together thereby making it easier to create / find a Central South designated area.
Looking at the Little Chef web site ther appears to be a possible meeting place of A49 / A5, not more than a couple of yards out of your way, enabling Rachel and I to meet up with you all.

Re: Ride up to Oswestry

Personally speaking, I would avoid the A5 North of Birmingham on a Friday afternoon especially in a large group. The M6 toll road and M54 are a bit of a plod, but at least you keep moving.

Re: Ride up to Oswestry

Don't go onto the M6 toll road I lead Spicey last year up there apart from Ł2 each we missed the M54 and ended up in Chester..

I was told we should have kept on the M6 old road and then do a left M54 avoiding the Toll Road.

Any way I'll have a nice section taped off for you all on the Friday morning with the Region Flag up. I'm there Thursday afternoon.
Not too far from toilets and the main hall.

On the right near to the Sussex Coasters....OK?
