Saturday 21st June--Ride to Suffolk.

Hi All,
I took the liberty of starting a new thread about Saturday.

I spent the day (well part of it) riding parts of a potential route for Saturday.

For all those interested in attending all or part of the ride on Saturday can you please note the following.
We will be departing from Baldock services on the A1 at 09.30hrs. We should be at Black Bear at Newmarket somewhere around 10.30. For anyone at BB--please make yourselves known, if you don't already know any of us.

The route will be Baldock, Royston, Newmarket. Then Bury St Edmunds, Lavenham for lunch, Sudbury, Halstead, Haverhill, Comfort Cafe and back to Royston and Baldock from there.

I did try a route from Baldock to Buntingford and Saffron Walden through to Newmarket but I think it'll be just too a long a day in total.

Black Bear have a launch day for the XR1200 on Saturday too.

Just a traffic note for anyone who may be coming to the rideout via the M1 at Luton J10.

There was a notice up by the road when we came back from Wendover saying that the Luton East Corridor road would be closed on 21st June. This is gonna be the road down past the airport where they are doing all the roadworks. So if you come off at junction 10 you will end up going through the town centre.

Hope this is OK? We've been chatting to friends, as you do, and they are now hoping to come along. Paula you have already met at Wendover, Mick and Manda from Luton you've not met as far as I know, and then there's Tim and Mo from near Bury St Edmunds.

Hopefully Paula, Mick and Manda will ride up to Baldock with us. Tim and Mo will join us at BB.

Local knowledge required.
Autoroute etc sends me north or south about 110 miles.
Using the trusty ruler and deawing a straight (ish) line:
Banbury-Brackley-Buckingham-Milton Keynes-Baldock 56 miles.

Can I get into Baldock Services from A508?

From memory, when I used to go to Thetford,the road takes you through the industrial estate part of MK so might be the best bet.

I hope to be there Andy, at least for the first couple of stops and hopefully for the whole thing.

I've not done a ride-out before so if anyone has any links to ride-out "etiquette", formation, fuel stops etc.etc. that i could read before-hand that would be cool. On the day I'll just tag along at the back trying to keep up.
