Tyre fitting service in Herts

Hi all.
Just went out to bike to clean up for NCC show in Harpended tomorrow, and found lovely large screw protruding from rear tyre.

Bit of a quandry, as it looks like the tyre is not going down, and in theory I could ride it a bit, but I just don't feel comfortable doing that, as I just know it will let me down at exactly the wrong time.

Now the question.
Does anybody know any helpful mobile fitting places that can supply motorbike tyres in Herts ?

Tyre is 240/40 Metzeler ?

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Vince

You sure you need a new tyre? Won't be easy to find one that size off the shelf Vinny! Try google mobile motorcycle tyre fitters.

Also ring Essential Rubber in London.

Re: Tyre fitting service in Herts

Hi Guys.
Thank for the info. will contact.

Sadly, the tyre attachment is rather large, and I suspect the diameter of the hole is quite large. Also the puncture is rught in the middle of the tyre, so, reading from the sites I have found, the accepted wisdom is that such a location and size warrant a replacement, rather than repair.

Will update accordingly.
Thanks,

V

Hi Vinny ,
if whatever caused the puncture has gone in straight and it is as you say in the midddle of the tyre, then you can repair it rather than have it replaced.
If however the object that has caused the puncture is bent inside or outside of the carcass, then then it may need a replacement.
But becareful where you take it as some places willl only replace rather than repair causing you an unnecesssary bill.
If the object is a screw then it has effectivley caused the puncture and paradoxically repaired it at the same time, and you may well be able to ride it around for a while until it is convinient for you to get it fixed.
There is a nationwide repair/recovery company called SOS 08442 484858, who can come to you.
Hope this helps you.

Martin

Hi Martin. Thanks for the nod on SOS, really helpful guy. Cannot help on the repair due to size, but gave me some good pointers. Really helpful guy, and worth remembering.

Am now resigned to not riding over the reast of the weekend, and plan to get it all sorted on Monday/Tuesday.

Thanks to all for the pointers, and help.

Hey Mark.

Thanks for that, will contact Universal on Monday. Having spoken with some tyre people, it now looks like ti might be possible to repair, rather than replace, so not quite as annoyed as earlier.
