I want to connect my laptop to my tv. I have a S-Video cable for pics and a jack plug to twin phono lead for sound. The telly has 3 options on "AV" Ext1 Ext2 and Y/C. I cant get a pic or sound on any of these. What am I doing wrong? Help!! |

Use the S-Video lead you shouldn't need a seperate sound lead. Just connect it from the S-Video on the laptop to the S-Video on the TV. Then search through the AV channels ont he TV until you get the picture. I think........ |

I think you have to go into the video adaptor properties and set it to output the video stream. It differers slightly from make to make of graphic card but that is the way. I had am IBM laptop and got it to work ok but waht with all the frigging about and quality did not bother after that. You can get a dedicated pcmia card as well i think and that will give a you quality picture. Just had a quick fiddle (;)) right click on the desktop and choose properties, then click settings/advanced, there you should find how to output the file to the s-video socket if it can be done

Could be a setting on the TV?On a TV I had ,there were different settings for one of the AV channels i.e Y/N/C or something like that...S-Vid etc . That is of course assuming you have enabled Video out from the laptop
